Summer Projects to Teach Kindness

ree

Looking for fun and meaningful projects to do with your kids this summer?I've put together a list of thoughtful activities that will not only entertain your children but also encourage them to spread kindness and love to others.

  1. Paint Kindness Rocks Decorate rocks with bright colors and include a comforting Bible verse using a permanent marker. Then, leave them around your town—someone who finds one might really need that uplifting message.

  2. Bake and Bless Whip up a batch of cookies and deliver them to your local fire or police station as a simple thank-you to those who serve the community.

  3. Flower Cup Surprises Plant flowers in small solo cups, decorate with ribbon, and attach a tag that says, “Love thy neighbor” – Mark 12:31. Leave them as doorstep surprises for your neighbors.

  4. Free Lemonade & Prayer Stand Host a free lemonade stand with a twist! Offer lemonade along with a card asking, “How can we pray for you today?” Have visitors write their prayer requests on the back and drop them in a “prayer jar.” Later, pray together for those requests.

  5. Pay It Forward with Allowance Let kids earn an allowance through chores, then help them choose a portion to use for a small act of generosity—like paying for someone’s coffee or ice cream at a local shop.

  6. Snail Mail to Grandparents Encourage your kids to write a heartfelt letter or draw a picture for their grandparents, then send it through the mail as a surprise.

  7. Make Dog Treats for the Shelter Find a simple recipe for homemade dog treats and deliver them to your local animal shelter.

  8. Donate with Purpose Clean out the toy box and closets together and create a donation box of gently used items for organizations that support foster children, families in crisis, or shelters. Bring your kids along for the drop-off so they can see the impact of their giving.

  9. Build a Birdfeeder Help your kids craft a birdfeeder and hang it outside a window. It’s a fun way to enjoy nature and see which feathered friends come to visit.

  10. Leave Mini Cross Cards Create small crosses and attach them to cards with the message, “God is with you wherever you go.” Leave them in places like doctor’s offices, parks, or grocery stores for others to find.

All of these activities should be done with parental supervision, but they’re a great way to help kids have a joyful, compassionate summer filled with purpose!
